How to Rent
If this is your first time renting a vacation home, the following advice should make the whole process easier for you.
Planning...
Determine how many people will be vacationing with you, then decide
which size home will best suit your requirements. In most cases, you
will find vacation homes to be more spacious with more bedrooms than
the comparable priced hotels. Many vacation rental homes, villas, and
condominiums are privately owned.
The next step is to determine the location and how far away from the
area attractions. Example, how far is it to Walt Disney World,
Sea World, and Universal Studio?
Confirm the dates and price...
Contact the owner directly to confirm that the dates for the vacation
home is available and request a quote for your length of stay. Dates
during school vacations and holidays should be booked in advance. This
is the perfect opportunity to ask the owner any questions you may have
about the home, what it has to offer and its location. Ask about
assistance if there is a problem with the rental. Are they licensed?
Are there any other cost or fees?
Most homes are privately owned with their specified terms and
conditions, such as if smoking or pets are allowed. Ask about their
rental agreement, cancellation and refund policies, if it is not posted.
After agreeing on the dates and price, the homeowner will request a
deposit to secure your booking. Do remember to make payment, such
as deposit and final balance on time since owners may have declined
other renters for the reserved dates.
Getting instructions and directions...
Upon receipt of final payment, the homeowner will issue you travel
directions to their rental home and instructions on how to obtain the
keys. Many rental homes use a lockbox and the owner will provide you
with the access code before your arrival. Some owners use a management
office where you can obtain the keys.
On arrival, generally you will find more instructions and information
in the home. The owner has offered their home for your use and you will
be delighted with all the comforts of their home.
